World Vision International Nepal (WVIN), an international Christian relief, development and advocacy organisation dedicated to working with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice, is looking for potential Nepalese candidates to fill out the following position:
Key Responsibilities: The Programmes Director will provide strategic leadership to World Vision International Nepal’s technical programmes, to ensure the organisation delivers on its strategic goals to work with the most vulnerable children and families. The role will manage a team of technical experts to ensure the quality of programme design, as well as oversee the expansion of a diversified funding portfolio through the Resource Development Unit. As’ a member of the Senior Leadership Team, he/she will provide valuable input in to WVIN’s strategy and objectives. The role will be required to travel domestically and internationally up to 15% of the time.
Minimum Qualifications, Experience and competencies required:
A Masters degree in International Development, or similar from recognised university with at least 8 years’ experience of working in international development programming including at least 2 years of working in an implementing country office; Knowledge of good development approaches including the rights based approach and empowerment approach to development; Good knowledge of the following sectors — education, health, livelihoods, child protection; Ability to design innovative projects as a part of an effective programme; Should have experience of applying technical rigor to project designs; Practical experience of applying DME/project cycle management; Experience with government relations and networking with other international agencies; Must have experience in designing winning grant projects for a range of donors, and managing donor contracts; Proven experience in leading teams in a cross-cultural environment; Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including cross-cultural communication skills; Demonstrated proficiency in computer applications including use of Microsoft Office; Strong people management skills, with excellent interpersonal skills and an enabling style; Ready to take initiatives and willing to work under pressure and exhibit a high level of flexibility; Hold a high level of integrity and honesty, self-motivated, confident, and able to work independently; Strong influencing, negotiating and collaboration skills; Strategic, creative, and innovative thinking with decision making and problem solving skills; Good understanding of humanitarian Sector.
