Organization: HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation Nepal

HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation Nepal is a Swiss non-governmental organization actively contributing to the improvement of the living conditions of poor and disadvantaged people in Nepal. Nepal Agricultural Services Development Programme, Prayas is a bilateral initiative between the Government of Nepal and the Government of Switzerland and implemented by the HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation Nepal. It invites application from interested and dynamic Nepali citizens for the following position:

Position : Team Leader

Project : Nepal Agricultural Services Development Programme, Prayas

Duty station : Food Security and Nutrition Office, Chakupat, Lalitpur with frequent travel to project sites

This position is responsible to:

• Lead overall project activities including project fund utilisation, human resources and partner management;
• Ensure good coordination between State Managers and other team members, placing emphasis on facilitating a pluralistic approach to agricultural extension through local governments, as well as promoting knowledge sharing and learning within the Prayas team;
• Coordination with federal level respective ministries and their departments and divisions, agricultural teaching and training institutions, public and private research institutions including Nepal Agricultural Research Council (NARC) and Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation to ensure alignment of statutory requirements;
o Ensure efficient and effective planning, implementation, monitoring of project activities, quality reporting and analysis;
o Support the development of a long-term agriculture development strategy for institutionalizing decentralized and pluralistic agriculture extension system at different levels of the government.

Required Education, Experience and Social Competence:

• Master’s degree in Agriculture or in any other related disciplines; Minimum 7 years’ of working experience in project/programme implementation with 3 years of working experience in managing agriculture research and extension specific organization, programme or projects; proven experience in managing projects having many staff, a significant budget and many partners in diverse geographical locations; knowledge and ability to work in the field of local governance, federal state building especially local state building; proven understanding and knowledge of gender mainstreaming, social inclusion and poverty reduction strategies.

Duration: Till 31st December 2019 with possibility of extension
